Anticipated Compensation : $4,500/production ($30/hour) Summary Description This position will work with members of the Performing Arts Department on the 2024-2025 Upper School musical. The choreographer will be responsible for teaching and coaching dance to students in 9th-12th grade, in collaboration with members of the musical production team under the direction of the production’s artistic director. Essential Functions and Specific Duties Attend auditions and participate in casting of students Choreograph and teach dance for musical numbers in the production Develop and lead dance rehearsals with students to ensure they are well-prepared for performances Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities Provide demonstrations and corrections where necessary Work cooperatively with other members of the production team Attend meetings related to the production Additional related tasks may be assigned An Ideal Candidate Will Have Experience teaching secondary school students in musical theater, dance, stage combat, or related fields is strongly preferred; The ability to work on a range of musical theater styles; The ability to work closely and collaborate respectfully with multiple colleagues; Demonstrated commitment to and competency in diversity, equity, inclusion and justice; Knowledge of healthy dance technique and performance; Strong work ethic, as well as time management, verbal, written language, and interpersonal skills; Core Competencies: Uphold the School’s Core Values. Demonstrate professionalism and tact. Stay up to date on industry standards, trends, developments and legal updates. Make timely and ethical decisions both systematically and under pressure. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area. Perform, with a team approach, other duties as assigned.
