Temporary, Part-time: 15-20 hours per week Pay Rate: $17.00/hour, non-exempt Benefits : CA Sick Time Off Organization size: 50+ employees Reports to: Lead Video Producer Location(s) : Interns are on-site positions at either the Watsonville or Salinas Center. This position is not eligible to work remotely. Age requirements: Internship positions are reserved for young adults ages 18 - 24 years of age. The job offer will be contingent upon the successful completion and passing of a background check. ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW: Digital NEST is a workforce development center that has welcomed hundreds of youth from working class, farmworker communities to develop the technical and professional skills they need to achieve their dreams. It is an exciting time for the NEST as we are on the precipice of expanding to a total of five communities across Northern California by the end of 2026. Digital NEST has centers in the heart of Watsonville, Salinas, Gilroy, Modesto, and soon to launch in Stockton. JOB OVERVIEW: bizzNEST is the creative agency of Digital NEST. bizzNEST offers a paid, 1-year internship program that provides real world professional training. Through this program, interns hone and develop their technical and professional skills, gain real professional experience by working with clients, build professional level portfolios and resumes, and become competitively qualified for entry-level, career-focused employment. bizzNEST is looking for a motivated intern who can assist with our video production projects, and is a quick learner and has a passion for this field. Interns will work under staff supervision to take projects from initial client intake through ideation, production, post-production and delivery, gaining experience in advanced video production techniques. They will support planning, execution, and editing to create visually appealing video content. They will be creating video content for external clients as well as working within the organization. They will also collaborate across functional teams for projects, as needed, including Design and Web Development. HOW TO APPLY: bizzNEST is here to enhance your technical and professional skills. RESPONSIBILITIES: Pre-Production (20%): Assist production team in developing pre-production plans through storyboards, A/V scripts, shot lists, floor plans, scripts, pitch decks etc., all while complying with the client’s style guidelines. Production (20%): Attend assigned productions in the studio or in the field. Operate production equipment as needed: Cameras, grip & lighting, audio. Post-Production (30%): Assist Staff with creating and editing content per project needs. Import and organize footage into editing projects. Create stringouts and/or assembly edits. Edit rough cuts with interviews, additional footage, audio and other assets. Archive project media according to pre-set folder structure. Other (30%): Attend and complete workshops and online training as assigned. Log all work and progress on Asana, our project management software. Participate in professional development activities. Mentorship programing, pursue certifications, etc. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High school graduate or currently majoring in the fields of Cinematic Arts, Film and Media Arts, or related fields. Self-taught individuals are welcome if they can demonstrate their knowledge and proficiency in video production. Technical Skills / Experience: Basic knowledge of camera operation. Basic knowledge of audio recording. Basic knowledge of lighting for video or photo. Basic knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop. Comfortable with Google Docs or other word processing apps. Desired Professional Skills: Demonstrates self-awareness of one’s strengths, biases, and growth areas, and can apply self awareness in their work. Takes the initiative to learn, and independently seek resources for personal and professional growth Demonstrates strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, and maintain attention to detail and quality work Strong collaboration and teamwork skills. Uses empathy and communication to build positive working relationships with colleagues Effective oral, written, and non-verbal communication skills. Employs active listening, is open to receiving feedback, and can communicate ideas in a clear and organized manner Strong critical thinking skills. Must be able to critically analyze their work, and assess their work from the client’s perspective. Strong problem solving skills. Identifies problems, and reviews related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Demonstrates adaptability to new working environments, processes, tasks and systems Demonstrates leadership capacity and is eager to grow as a leader in their work and community Demonstrates creativity and curiosity to develop new approaches to communicating ideas to clients. REQUIREMENTS: Passion for the mission of Digital NEST and belief in upholding organization’s core values. Understanding of and sensitivity to issues of culture/ethnicity/race, gender, sexual identity, class/SES and immigration status. Ability to be an ally to people of color, women and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, queer, questioning and intersex individuals and their allies (LGBTQIA). Ability to meet the minimum amount of hours required. Maintain dexterity and coordination, sufficient to perform essential functions. Ability to sit for long periods of time performing desk-based computer tasks. Ability to lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 35 pounds as needed. Maintain dexterity and coordination, sufficient to perform essential functions. Ability to stand and walk for 8 hours a day for production work. To participate in some production opportunities the intern will be responsible for their own transportation. In-person participation at either Watsonville or Salinas Digital NEST sites.
