Summer Day Camp Group Leader - Temporary

Summary Quilla Academy is now looking for summer day camp group leaders to join our team and help us build a fun and enriching summer camp program for kids in Pre-K through 5th grade. This person will be responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising day camp activities such as arts and crafts, games, STEM projects, water days, outdoor play time, field trips, etc. They will also be required to serve meals and maintain a clean and safe classroom environment and playground for the campers. Candidates should be friendly, flexible, engaging, outgoing, and extremely responsible. This is a full time temporary position for the summer from May 20-August 2, 2024. Camp leaders must be available to work for at least 8 hours per day Monday through Friday between 6:45 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. The exact times may vary from day to day depending on the activities scheduled for that day. Additional part time work in the after school program may be available in the fall for successful camp leaders who wish to continue their employment. Applicants must be able to get and pass a fingerprint based background check before they are eligible to be hired. Duties Job responsibilities include: supervising and caring for school age children. planning and implementing multiple fun extracurricular activities every day. leading groups of children on field trips. developing positive relationships with campers and their families. clearly communicating verbally and in writing with children, parents, supervisors, and other staff members. maintaining a clean and organized classroom. serving meals to children including breakfast, lunch, and snacks. keeping accurate and timely written records. attending and completing child care training courses. Requirements Applicants should be energetic and enthusiastic about providing children with excellent summer camp experiences. They should also be flexible, work well with others, and have strong communication skills. Job requirements include: Satisfactory result on a fingerprint based background check. Previous experience working with school age children. The ability to stand for long periods of time. The ability to lift at least 25 pounds. CPR/First Aid certification or the willingness to get certification in a timely manner. Nice To Haves Nice to Haves (not required): Previous experience teaching in an after school or camp program. Training in after school or camp programs. Willingness to drive a mini school bus with a good driving record.
