We work through our highly specialized practice areas to deliver excellent quality, impactful solutions based on data integrity.A DAY IN THE LIFEOur Resource Economic Leader (Associate Scientist) position is remote (ideally New England based, but not a requirement).As a key member of the Ecosystem Service Economics team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including: * A remote work position with the opportunities for an office-based position in the US, you'll provide technical oversight of assessments, permit and regulatory filings, and management plans. * Work with public or private sector clients to implement work consistent with NOAA's Damage Assessment, Remediation, and Restoration Program (DARRP- https://www.darrp.noaa.gov/science-and-economics/economics ) regarding damage assessments, methods development, and technical support to litigation. * Conduct economic assessments to determine the appropriate type and scale of restoration to compensate the public for injuries to ecological, recreational, and cultural resources. * Work as part of an interdisciplinary team of scientists and attorneys on natural resource damage assessment cases. * Provide technical support to business and law firm clients in natural resource damage litigation. * Conduct economic work that advances the ability to assess natural resource injuries and scale restoration projects. * Manage projects involving cost/benefit and next benefit analyses and procedures for conducting natural resource damage assessments. * Participate in professional development activities via identifying and seeking appropriate training and participation in professional meetings for staff.YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLSTo perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. * We are seeking a highly collaborative resource economic leader who has knowledge and experience in leading economic studies involving protection and restoration of land and water resource planning, programs, and strategies. * You will work with various environmental discipline groups, such as human health and ecological risk assessors, site remediation, community economic development planning, and EIS specialists. * Master's or Doctorate degree in economics, preferably in one of more of the following sub-disciplines: environmental, natural resource, or agricultural economics; or environmental policy with an emphasis in quantitative economic analysis. * A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in Social Impact Assessment, and related fields that might include Indigenous Relations, Environment, Archaeology, Anthropology, Law, Community Development, Stakeholder Engagement, Land, or Government Relations. * An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. * Knowledge of the US and Canada regulatory processes and consultation guidelines, particularly as they are related to brownfield site redevelopment and the energy industry. * Experience engaging with regulatory and business representatives and communities to resolve complex and often contentious issues.WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU As a key member of our Montrose team, you can expect: * Mentorship and professional development resources to advance your career * Direct exposure to our industry's leading experts who are solving the world's toughest environmental challenges * An entrepreneurial environment where you can learn, thrive and collaborate with talented colleagues * Opportunities to engage and contribute to our Diversity, Fairness and Inclusion and Women Empowering Leadership employee resource groups * Competitive compensation package: annual salary ranging from $120,000 to $160,000, commensurate with accomplishments, performance, credentials and geography * Competitive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage * 401k with a competitive 4% employer match * Progressive vacation policies, company holidays and paid parental leave benefits to ensure work/life balance * A financial assistance program that supports peers in need, known as the Montrose Foundation * Access to attractive student loan rates to optimize your student loan payoff plansThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
