Job Summary: The Supervisor, Telecom position for SE Operations within the Field Operations East & National department will have overall responsibility for approximately (12) Telecom Technicians, (1) Telecom Analyst, and (1) Administrative Assistant geographically dispersed throughout the southern territory of GA.The Supervisor provides leadership and influence through active participation in Field Operations (FO) activities and leverages business, technical, and consulting resources from across the organization (strategy, engineering, and operations) to ensure the timely delivery of effective business solutions.FO provides hands-on installation, maintenance, break-fix, and project support for Southern Company's voice, data, and telecommunications transport networks while also assisting various infrastructure groups with initiatives as needed in support of a diverse Southern Company customer base. Education Requirements & Preferences: Two-year degree in a business or technology-related field, or equivalent military training is required. Preference will be given to candidates with a four-year degree or nearing completion of a four-year degree program in a business or technology-related field. Experience Requirements & Preferences: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technology-related field is required. Preference will be given to candidates who have telecommunications, field operations, or similar experience. Candidates with a minimun of two years people leadership experience will be considered in lieu of education requirements. Job Requirements (The Whats): Leadership and teamwork demonstrated by a successful track record of accomplishing meaningful business results working with and through others. Working knowledge of technology-related disciplines including voice, data, and telecommunications transport networks. Working knowledge of our customer's business functions, how their operations are performed within different organizations of Southern Company, how they are supported by Field Operations, and an understanding of how the Technology Organization and Field Operations adds value to these organizations. Analytical abilities and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify business requirements, manage workforce resources for effective utilization, and seek ways to always be better tomorrow than today. Relationship building skills that result in successful working relationships with customers, peers and business partners internal and external to Southern Company. Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical issues or processes in business terms and communicate with business partners, vendors, and leadership at various levels. Work Location & Hours: This position will be performed within a hybrid environment and may be performed remotely. Reporting to a specific office location each day is not expected or required; however, frequent face-to-face engagement with employees in various locations throughout GA is required and frequent travel is expected. The successful candidate will be required to attend team, vendor, or business partner meetings, training, or other on-site events and must be willing to attend in person when necessary or requested. A company vehicle will be provided. The successful candidate can reside anywhere within the southern territory of GA defined in this role as being within or anywhere south of the following counties: Troup, Meriweather, Pike, Lamar, Monroe, Jasper, Putnam, Hancock, Warren, McDuffie, and Columbia. Candidates who do not wish to relocate but are within 30 road miles of the northern borders of these counties within GA will also be considered. Relocation assistance is offered with this position. This position is an exempt/salaried position. Typical workdays and hours are Monday - Friday, daytime hours (i.e. 7AM - 4PM, 8AM - 5PM) with flexibility. There will be occasional after-hours and/or weekend engagement in support of employees and initiatives, and during storms, critical events, etc. This position has been identified as a role that will require the use of a Georgia Power fleet vehicle. The following will be required if you are selected for this position: Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience (Must hold a valid driver's license for the class vehicle to be operated. Driving permits are not typically considered a valid driver's license). Must have no revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application, no convictions of major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the 12 months prior to application, or any pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application.
