HOURS: Full Time - Must be willing to work twelve hour rotating shifts and alternate weekends Who We Are The work of Good Shepherd is based on a fundamental belief in providing hope and restoring dignity to the most vulnerable members of our community. Our services include emergency food transitional housing and education for homeless and street-involved youth; hospice palliative care; community mental health programs; and supportive housing programs. We are committed to integrating Harm Reduction practices into our programs and to prioritizing the rights, dignity, and choices of those who use substances. By integrating a Harm Reduction framework at Good Shepherd, we can decrease barriers to service and better support some of our community's most marginalized members. Good Shepherd is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Mental Health Crisis Worker - Barrett Centre How You Will Make an Impact The Barrett Centre provides crisis intervention supports to all those aged 16+ of any gender identity. The program provides services including 16 short-term respite beds, in-person and telephone support, information and referral; crisis backssment, counseling and support; symptom stabilization for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. Post secondary education in a related filed. Be compassionate, hospitable, and non-judgmental Conduct risk and suicide backssment, crisis intervention, de-escalating strategies Determine care planning & crisis counseling Continuous monitoring and evaluation; individual support Provide linkage and community referral; advocacy; collaboration and coordination with other service providers Be a part of shared hands-on responsibility for program operation Responsible for participating in Good Shepherd's Health and Safety programs, procedures and work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations to minimize risk to clients, staff and others.
