About the Opportunity The Department of Psychiatry at Dalhousie University is recruiting for a substantive full-time psychiatrist for Nova Scotia Health’s (NSH) Central Zone Community Mental Health and Addictions (CMHA) Program. This position is 1.0 FTE based in Dartmouth City CMHT with the flexibility to work at other CMHT locations subject to service needs (Cole Harbour and Cobequid/Hants CMHTs). The Mental Health Community General Adult Services are actively seeking candidates proficient in Geriatric Psychiatry to augment their service offerings. The ideal candidate will possess specialised training and experience in Geriatric Psychiatry, enabling them to seamlessly integrate services and administer tailored care to senior patients within the framework of General Adult services. A desirable qualification/skill would include completion of a subspecialty residency training or fellowship program in Geriatric Psychiatry, ensuring the ability to provide comprehensive care to both senior patients and the standard adult population. This unique skill set will enable the candidate to effectively address the diverse needs of older adults within the broader context of General Adult mental health services. The Department of Psychiatry is a mid-sized clinical academic department within the Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Faculty work as members of multidisciplinary teams within the Nova Scotia Health Mental Health and Addiction Program to provide general psychiatric services to patients primarily in the Central Zone and specialty services to patients across the province. Responsibilities Roles and Responsibilities: To be the Attending or Consultant physician to ambulatory patients in the CMHA Program. Conduct, order and ensure appropriate psychiatric backssments, appropriate psychosocial and laboratory investigations, and pharmacological & psychosocial interventions as per current standard practice.
