Description:
Primary Responsibilities: Under limited supervision, administers medical assistance and first aid to students according to school health program procedures. Performs routine counseling services; refers students and their parents to community agencies and professionals as appropriate. Maintains student health records. Reports to the Lead Nurse. Ensures that school is in compliance with district, state and federal mandates and submits appropriate reports as required. Promotes a safe physical environment, maintains health clinic to provide for emergency and medical needs of students. Keeps the Head of School, principals, Chief Operations Officer and other key staff informed of health related issues that could impact student safety or learning. Key Competencies: Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing. Licensed as a Registered Nurse. Maintain Current South Carolina Registered Nursing License. Preferred related nursing experience in a school environment. Current CPR Certification, CPR and First Aid trainer a plus. Proven ability to take initiative, to be resourceful, make sound nursing judgements and present self in a tactful and courteous manner. Ability to lead other nursing or related staff within a K-12 education environment. Requires organization skills and the ability to multi task in a fast paced environment. Solid nursing knowledge with policy and laws related to the medical field in a K-12 school. Ability to identify and "triage" immediate needs and provide required interventions.
