Mission of the Position We are looking for an Estimator with Commercial Industry experience to add to our dynamic team. This position will help the company by preparing bids, supporting current projects, and reviewing and analyzing completed projects to ensure the company remains competitive within the industry. Preparing Bids Prepares estimates by analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other construction documents to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates for bidding construction projects while applying knowledge of specialized methodologies for preconstruction service, techniques, principles, and processes. Estimates costs for materials, purchased and/or leased equipment, subcontracted work, production activities and requirements, and labor. Provides preliminary estimates for planning purposes and detailed itemized estimates based on final plans and specifications. Identifies and quantifies potential cost uncertainties to ensure costing models capture the full range of potential costs. Supporting Current Projects Updates costs as necessary based on new information and project scope changes. Reviews supplier and subcontractor proposals and pricing. Reviews data to determine material and labor requirements and prepares itemized lists. Researches and evaluates subcontractors based on price, quality, selection, service, and support. Prepares cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals. Acts as a resource to project management during the award/start-up phase to clarify any issues regarding what was considered in the estimate including materials and methods of construction. Reviews budget and project profitability, status, and goals with the project team as required. Maintains up-to-date and accurate contact information for suppliers, subcontractors, and clients. Review and Analysis of Completed Projects Communicates with management to evaluate contract performance. Analyzes postproduction costs and uses data to inform future project estimates. Analyzes price proposals and other data to determine price structure. Assesses cost effectiveness of products, projects, and services. Desired Skills and Competencies: Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school required. Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred. 2 - 3 years of related experience and/or training in Estimating 2 - 3 years of related experience and/or training in Schedule development with Microsoft Project a plus. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite required. Experience with On Screen Takeoff or other Takeoff Software a plus. Experience with Primavera P6 a plus. Experience with Procore a plus.
