Senior UI/UX Designer

Successful candidates will be capable of applying their experience and knowledge to create innovative UI/UX designs to support both digital modernization and legacy initiatives associated with a variety of health care applications. Candidates will possess demonstrable skills in analyzing business problems, creating solutions to eliminate customer pain points as well as the ability to develop user flows, wireframes, and prototypes. Candidates will be expected to work with senior-level systems and software architects, engineers, and developers to gather requirements, develop and build enterprise web applications based on business needs with robust testing and documentation within an agile environment. An understanding of DoD and government security standards and policies are needed to ensure all deployed changes are highly secure and available. Qualifications: 5+ years' experience in the knowledge and adoption of UX industry best practices including user-centered design to support user-facing applications. 3+ years' experience as a visual designer, interaction designer, experience designer or a similar role. Ability to establish and champion UX design vision, standards, and best practices to peers and program leaders that align with program goals. Possess familiarity with modern technology web frameworks (i.e., - React, Angular, JQuery, Vue.js, Node.js, or Spring) and low/no-code platforms (i.e., - Salesforce, etc.). Experience in user research, user interface design, graphic design, information architecture, usability testing, human factors, and other related disciplines. Advanced knowledge of usability, accessibility (Section 508 Compliance), Possess demonstrable ability to develop wireframes, mockups, and/or prototypes supporting design ideas and ability to communicate ideas to various stakeholders. Familiarity with SQL and working with relational databases (i.e., Oracle, IBM DB2, PostgresSQL) Experience with DevOps tools, such as Git, Jenkins, Maven, Ansible and Junit. Typical Duties/Abilities: Work with Technical/Solutions Architects and Business Analysts to translate business requirements and develop consistent UI/UX strategies into well architected solutions. Develop wireframes, mockups, and/or prototypes supporting design ideas and effectively communicate ideas to various stakeholders. Work closely with functional team to determine feasibility of requirements and collaborate on design ideas and improvements. Collaborating with cross discipline team to create and execute experience style guides, interaction patterns, and information design standards. Taking a leadership role in collaborations between the creative strategy, UX, visual design, development team, and client to create effective design strategies. Execute test plans to ensure quality delivery using test code and unit tests. Follow coding standards and participate in code reviews during projects to ensure appropriate design patterns are followed. Soft Skills Experience working with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Lean Startup, XP) and cross-functional teams (Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Developers, Designers, Business Analysts) Strong communication and collaboration skills with a track record of taking solution ownership. Possess Design Thinking certifications such as those offered through IDEO, Stanford, Cornell, MIT, or a host of other organizations. Communication skills key! Demonstrate an ability to effectively communicate with leadership and key stakeholders. Ability to articulate design and configuration choices and bring about consensus.
